The Hermitage Hotel created in 1900 is a superb example of Belle Epoque architecture its principal galleries contain beautiful frescoes and a Winter Garden roof designed by Gustave Eiffel.
The Princes palace is located on the Rocher, a rocky promontory overlooking the coast to Italy, the monumental Oceanographic museum founded in 1889 by Prince Alert I is edified at the other extreme of the Rocher, dedicated to sea exploration and scientific understanding of the Mediterranean, it is one of Monaco most important attractions with over 600.000 visitors each year.
Lavortto lies to the east of Monaco, a residential quarter which runs along avenue Princesse Grace and a sought-after location in the Principality, with many luxury residence and penthouses offering panoramic views.
